What do you guys think about next edition, is it gonna bring up new talents? I feel few guys got a opportunity but didn’t use it like Shivam dube, is IPL spoiling them?

I was planning on making some stumps and found specs for all parts, other than the spikes that are driven into the ground. Based on this image I guesstimated the spikes to be ~4 inches. Is there an actual rule dictating how long the spikes aught to be?
Just a fun discussion post on which cricketer you really didn't like when you first saw him play or for a while but slowly you warmed up to him? If possible, focus on cricketers from not the country you support, but overseas.
For me, it'd be Sourav Ganguly. The Indian captain in 2001 really irked me off intially. He wasn't as calm as say a Dravid and Tendulkar were, and he was competitive like crazy. As years went by, I slowly warmed up to him, due to his commitment on the field and the fact he never actually crossed the line (and I'll admit something Aussies occasionally did). He played hard but fair, had a lot of shit happen to him and was it vs Pak, he scored 270 odd in B'lore? That and 144 at the Gabba made me cheer for him more than a Tendulkar or a Laxman who always got runs vs us. I'm yet to some one as good on the off side as he was.
Post retirement, his commentary stint in 15 WC and the U-19 WC was excellent too, though something changed in the 19 WC and he came off as too biased and often ill prepared - apologizing every 30 odd mins for a wrong stat or for slip of tongue. Minor farce though.
I reckon a number of Aussies might say Kohli, and well, he's no longer the middle finger to crowd showing youngster anymore and his interview with Gilly was very well received, but I'd put Ganguly above him in terms of warming up to the person. His aggression stood out differently than one we had in our run or Kohli's and the more I knew abt cricket, the more I realised how difficult it must have been to pick cricket up when he became captain.
Anyways, enough abt me. What's yours?

Hi all,
My entire family (from my great grandparents’ time) was born in Singapore and I consider myself more Singaporean than Pakistani. Don’t get me wrong, I am proud of my Pakistani heritage, but it’s just that I want to be called as a Singaporean rather than a Pakistani because we are an independent nation.
Singapore has been kind of dominating the Southeast Asian field for some time now and just recently we beat Zimbabwe which has played a CWC. Surely that’s gotta mean something?
Not trying to throw shade here, but even our neighbour Malaysia has got one and we are at least at the same level.
Sorry if I sounded rude or anything, I’m just expressing my emotions.
Weather - 32.8 C with 20% chance of rain
Toss - Bat I reckon
WinViz - 81/19 Pakistan
Interesting facts - The first ODI was the first time a match has been washed out in Karachi
This will be the first ODI played in Karachi in a decade

For a sub reddit which apparently loves Test Cricket, there seems to be a severe lack of understanding on the fundamental difference between Test Cricket (time limit cricket) and ODI/T20 (Limited overs cricket).
I say this because I proposed an idea for discussion on having a One-Day Time Limited match and a some of the responses have been “so just an odi then” or “boring odi”.
Test isn’t just different from odi because it’s 5 days versus 1 day. The idea that wickets need to be taken to win the match and the possibility of a draw if that doesn’t happen fundamentally changes the match and the strategy.
This is why odi/t20 are seen as a batsmen’s game (where it’s how many runs you can score given an equal number of overs) versus Test cricket where it’s the bowlers who win you the match and taking wickets is the key and protecting wickets is so important.
I hope the above doesn’t come across as condescending, which was not my intention. I have only written this for those who be new to cricket or those who don’t fully understand the difference between the two formats.

I know how strong the Indians have been at home for the last 10 years, and that no one expects anything out of this South African side in India. But is there a way they could win?
What must go right for them in order to win?
This series is on a good time for me so I'll be following a lot after the footy I reckon.
I'm I right in noticing a lot of MS Dhoni's traits in Rishabh Pant? It's the fact that they are very similar in their approach to the game. Dhoni started as a brash young star with a lot of potential. He got out to playing rash shots. Even his wicketkeeping was questioned my stalwarts.(Same applies to Pant) Dhoni initially tasted success in Test Cricket with that 148 against Pakistan.(Pant too, has scored test centuries in England and Australia- the first Indian 'keeper to ever do so.) Dhoni, with time became more matured and moulded his game. Most importantly,Dhoni had the backing of Sourav Ganguly (The then Indian Captain) The Indian cricket team management seems to be going the wrong way with Pant. He needs all the backing to succeed. He just needs to play his natural game. Success and maturity will come eventually.

I grew up watching tight games whenever we toured Pak, and a lot of close Indo-Pak games in Pak. Be it Karachi or Lahore's Gaddafi (why is it named that) stadium. Tendulkar's ton in a losing cause in Rawalpindi. Or even Multan. Faisalabad.
There's a reason cricket moved out of the country, but hoping slowly cricket returns in full flow on the land, I've detested seeing games in empty stadiums in Sharjah and Abu Dhabi.
No expert on world politics, but anytime terror wins is a sad day and anytime we win over terror is a reason to celebrate. For everyone's sake, and above all the average Pakistani, let's hope the series is a success, filled out stadia, no incidents, and more and more teams including Aus play there and test cricket returns too.
Where are I watch: Kevin Pietersen Story of a genius documentary?
I’m interested to see who people think will be the best team lineups from the 2020s. Purely hypothetical of course and there’s no way to know what new players will pop up.
I’m primarily interested in tests but lineups for the shorter forms are welcome as well.
So I am fast bowler (pretty shabby one) struggling to put the ball at the right length. Every over, couple of balls are rank short balls. I have come to realize that it is happening because the ball is getting stuck in my hands and not getting released at the point I want. I am not holding the ball too deep in my grip. So I am not quite sure what's causing this. I am not sure if its the inner part of my thumb that's gripping the ball but as far as I can tell, I rest my thumb pretty vertical under the ball. Any suggestions?

What do you think? Were the home umpires too lenient or the foreign umpires too harsh?
In Steve Waugh’s autobiography :
'Don't bother appealing. This is my land, my rules' .... this was how Miandad egged Aussie players when they used to appeal against him for LBW in Pakistan.
His average shot up 2 or 3 over this Ashes and whilst 70 is a huge way from where he is now, what sort of run scoring would he need to get there? Also is their a way of checking players that have ever had a hundred of 70+ other than Bradman?
He’s taken 80 wickets @ 19.0 in Div 1 of the CC, the most by any bowler and easily the most by a spinner.
He took 7 wickets on Finals Day in the T20 Blast (a record) and led Essex to a memorable title in his captaincy debut season, which included reinventing Ravi Bopara’s role (3 consecutive MOM awards in his new role) and his own nerveless batting in the final.
Regardless of what happens in the decisive CC game currently being played (Essex v Somerset at Taunton) where the winner will be crowned county champions, Harmer has had an undeniably blockbuster season or two (or 3... 190+ wickets and counting)
