I genuinely lost touch with cricket for a while now. Except for occasional IPL matches, some solid test matches, cricket didn’t interest me anymore. Maybe it was the lack of playing the game physically that did it (last game i played was in college and that was a long time back) or it’s just that cricket became too predictable that did it. I had a 9 year old reddit account with over 100k karma. Although i had lurked on this sub for a long time and occasionally posted a comment or two, I seriously started posting from this IPL onward. This world cup i decided to delete my old account and create a new one, something that i could use to focus on my true interests. Posting this WC has been fun. Watching the game along with thousands of redditors has been fun. And some moronic twitter like comments aside, connecting with like minded cricket enthusiasts across the globe has made fall in love with the sports again. Maybe it was also the 90s like cricket in this WC which also made the matches something familiar to what I had grown up with that did it as well. All in all, i would like to thank this sub and also its mods (makes the sub more open and also seriously makes it a non-meme, non-racist sub) for my renewed interest in the sports.
