Need help with story.

I'm writing a story where two players in a team are battling for the position of cricket captain and one captain has this field and the other has this field.

Where would the bowlers have to bowl to with fields listed below.

Note: This is at the start of an innings with opening fast bowlers bowling with the new ball.

Captain A has.

  • Four slips.
  • Gully.
  • Point.
  • Mid off.
  • Short leg.
  • Mid wicket.

Captain B has.

  • Two slips.
  • Gully.
  • Cover.
  • Mid off.
  • Square leg.
  • Mid wicket.
  • Mid on.
  • Leg slip.

My guess with Captain A's field the bowlers have to be very accurate with line and length and must be able to swing the ball late both ways. Bowler could get away with over pitching when the ball is swinging since there's chance the batsmen could nick it straight to keeper or slips if it swings away or get bowled or LBW if the bowl swings in. Bowlers could bowl that odd short ball to bring short leg into he game but the short ball must be head or neck height so batsmen have less control on the pull or hook shot.

My guess with Captain B's field the bowler has to avoid giving width and bowling a fraction short since there's open space between gully and point. Bowlers could have the freedom to bowl straighter but must mostly stay just outside off stump without being short. If bowler is going to bowl short then it must be neck to head height where there's less control on the pull or hook shot which means the ball could pop up in the air for an easy catch. Bowler also have the freedom to bowl fuller and just outside off since there's protection on the off side.

I'm not 100% sure though, any suggestions?
