Most recent Test centurions from the West Indies

In the spirit of the previous posts, I decided to do one for the West Indies. West Indies is a little different as they currently have 6 First Class teams representing countries rather than domestic regions. A total of 488 Test centuries have been scored for the West Indies.

Barbados: Shamarh Brooks (111), Afghanistan vs West Indies 1st Test, Lucknow, 27-29 November 2019

Guyana: Shivnarine Chanderpaul (101*), West Indies vs Bangladesh 2nd Test, Gros Islet, 13-17 September 2014

Jamaica: Marlon Samuels (103), West Indies vs England 2nd Test, Grenada, 21-25 April 2015

Trinidad & Tobago: Darren Bravo (116), Pakistan vs West Indies 1st Test, Dubai, 13-18 October 2016

Leeward Islands: Kieran Powell (117), Bangladesh vs West Indies 1st Test, Dhaka, 13-17 November 2012

Windward Islands: Daren Sammy (106), England vs West Indies 2nd Test, Trent Bridge, 25-28 May 2012

Combined Campuses and Colleges: never had a Test centurion but were only active in FC cricket for a few seasons and usually had all the youngsters that couldn't make their country's side

Combined Islands (original team for the Leeward/Windward Islands): Viv Richards (110), West Indies vs India 4th Test, Kingston, 28 April-3 May 1989

The big thing that stands out to me is that Barbados absolutely dominates both the Windies team and the centurions of recent years. It's been almost 4 years since someone other than a Barbadian scored a Test century and that was Darren Bravo's effort in what was only the 2nd ever day/night Test.

For a side that has dominated the Regional 4 Day competition for the last few seasons until the most recent one, Guyana show why it's their bowling that has won them titles not their batting. Despite producing numerous cricketers in recent years (Hetmyer, Vishaul Singh, Leon Johnson, Rajendra Chandrika), Shiv Chanderpaul is still the last Guyanan to crack the century barrier. Similarly, Jamaica haven't had a centurion since Marlon Samuels although Jermaine Blackwood came close last month.

Predictably, the Windward and Leeward Islands teams haven't produced a lot of centurions. These teams are made up of a bunch of smaller islands and have generally been less successful than their larger counterparts. If you go back from the efforts of Powell and Sammy in 2012, you need to go back to 2004 when Devon Smith and Ridley Jacobs scored centuries to find the next most recent centuries by players from these teams.
