This game is intriguing but I have no idea what’s going on. Someone help me to understand.

I live in the USA and enjoy baseball. Every time I see a cricket game I’m intrigued. I just would like to know the basic rules. Is the pitcher trying to knock something off behind the batter? How do you score points?
