Where did Sri Lanka go wrong in the 2011 World Cup final?

They batted brilliantly and posted a challenging score of 274 which should have been defended.

They got off to a great start removing Sehwag and Tendulkar.

Sangakarra got his tactics right leaving Murali after the 20th over however Murali didn't have his usual zip that day and he think they employed a 4 offside field and 5 onside field which India exploited.

Also to Randiv the field was 6 on the offside for Gambhir.

I guess Sri Lanka wanted India to chase 75+ in the last 10 while hoping Murali would've taken 1-2 wickets in the middle which did not happen. I seen a few finals were India lost the match in the final 10 overs to Sri Lanka like that. One of them when they were only 2 wickets down at 35 overs and needed 8 an over however India collapsed. I guess that did not happen for Sri Lanka that day which they were probably hoping for.

I guess India just batted well that day, for 31-2, with the run rate climbing up and Murali bowling 10 overs from 20+, Sri Lanka had a golden chance however India just batted well.

Here are the Highlights

Cricket without spectators.

I think cricket amoungst other sports would do fairly well in the competitive value even without having fans in the stadiums.

One thing that will get more attention is all the banter that'll be going on, on the field.

I can already hear Nasser Hussain saying "A bit of argy-bargy going on in the middle".

What do you guys reckon, would having no fans in the stadium affect the game?

New on SI: Cardinals Temper Expectations Over Revamped Roster

Despite a Revamped Roster With Deandre Hopkins Added to the MIX, the Cardinals Simmer Down Their Expectations Moving Into the 2020 Season

After acquiring DeAndre Hopkins, arguably one of the best wide receivers in the league, the hype surrounding the Cardinals grew exponentially. However, the Cardinals organization and its players believe in keeping their expectations low and working on a defense that lacked in the 2019 season. AllCardinals Editor Howard Balzer discusses how the Cardinals have revamped their defense, and what exactly the Cardinals are working with coming this season.

Read the full transcript below:

Madelyn Burke: The Arizona Cardinals had a splashy Off-Season headlined by the trade for wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. But despite the overwhelming hype surrounding the squad, the Cards are doing their best to temper expectations. Joining me now is Howard Balzer of SI's AllCardinals and Howard, acquiring arguably the league's best wide receiver is a big move for this Cardinals team, yet how is this team navigating these expectations?

Howard Balzer: Well, the big thing is they're saying all the right things and they all have a lot of confidence so that this can be a good year for them. But they always then say, "The sky's the limit." But then they say, "But, of course, that's only on paper." They're concentrating on the things they have to do to come together as a team because of the confidence they have. One of the biggest aspects, as you mentioned Hopkins, of it is the improvements on defense because that's where this team had some struggles. Last year, they were better towards the end of the season and everyone believes that they can pick up where they left off and have the makings of a well-balanced team this season.

Madelyn Burke: And balance, obviously, the key. I mean, we've seen in past and in recent history, even with the Browns, with the addition of Odell Beckham Jr. and the hype that that team struggled to live up to. How key are some of these other moves outside of this DeAndre Hopkins trade?

Howard Balzer: Well, a lot of moves are very strong: of course, they got Kenyan Drake resigned on the transition tag and on defense, the moves that they made with Jordan Phillips and De'Vondre Campbell and Devon Kennard and then drafting Isaiah Simmons. One real key that is overlooked a little bit is that Robert Alford, who was supposed to be a starting cornerback last year, missed the entire season with an injury and Patrick Peterson missed the first six games because of a league suspension. So, they get those players back to go with everything else. Plus, being in the second year of Vance Joseph's system and that's where a lot of the confidence is building from on this team. As I mentioned, it's with that defense.

Madelyn Burke: "Defense wins championships" is the old adage, Howard Balzer, thank you so much for the insight.

Daniel Vettori chips in to help low-income BCB staff members

Daniel Vettori, the former New Zealand captain who is currently Bangladesh's spin-bowling coach, has asked the BCB to give part of his salary to the low-income members of the board's staff.

BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury told the Dhaka-based Prothom Alo, "Vettori has said that we should donate a specific part of his salary to the BCB's low-income staff. He has officially informed the cricket operations committee."

Vettori is the latest in the Bangladesh cricket community to come forward to help people during the Covid-19 pandemic. So far, Bangladesh's contracted cricketers, the Under-19 cricketers and the players' association have all donated money, while the BCB itself has donated around a large sum - Taka 3.61 crore ($428,000 approx.).

While the amount Vettori has decided to donate hasn't been disclosed, he is the highest-paid member of the Bangladesh coaching staff, earning $250,000 for his 100-day contract that runs till the end of the scheduled World Cup T20 later this year.

Spectators, how does the Gabba compare to other Australian grounds?

In terms of ease of access, facilities and comfort, how does the Gabba rate? I have only been to Hobart and Melbourne, of the major Aust grounds.

I get that the Gabba needs a lick of paint, and is getting a train station soon, but I would not want to see it knocked down and rebuilt only because it is down the pecking order of Australian grounds.

How come there’s no England batsman that had even anything close to 10k ODI runs?

Every other major team I can think of, they’ve all got atleast one or a few players that have reached more than 10,000 ODI runs or are close to that, except England.
