Daniel Vettori, the former New Zealand captain who is currently Bangladesh's spin-bowling coach, has asked the BCB to give part of his salary to the low-income members of the board's staff.
BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury told the Dhaka-based Prothom Alo, "Vettori has said that we should donate a specific part of his salary to the BCB's low-income staff. He has officially informed the cricket operations committee."
Vettori is the latest in the Bangladesh cricket community to come forward to help people during the Covid-19 pandemic. So far, Bangladesh's contracted cricketers, the Under-19 cricketers and the players' association have all donated money, while the BCB itself has donated around a large sum - Taka 3.61 crore ($428,000 approx.).
While the amount Vettori has decided to donate hasn't been disclosed, he is the highest-paid member of the Bangladesh coaching staff, earning $250,000 for his 100-day contract that runs till the end of the scheduled World Cup T20 later this year.
