Although I've been playing cricket (just batting) since I was a kid, I've recently bulked up quite a lot and thought I'd give fast bowling a go. After months of being jokingly average, I've learnt the front foot block and the bowling arm delay, and it finally feels like I'm getting good pace on the ball (I have stronger than average lats and lower back, and that's where I feel the most sore after a bowling session). However, my lower body at this point feels unused (except the calf from the front foot blocking).
What I mean is, my lower body is quite loose throughout the motion, in contrast to my upper body which does most of the work. Should glutes feel tensed and fired? If yes, how and when?
