When people say that it's easier for batsmen these days because bowlers arent that good they ignore how much the level of fielding has gone up.

Now you have to find gaps and cant half ass your shots and get away with it. Yes you have free hits and all and maybe the standard of bowlers have gone down but the fielding in international cricket these days is the best it has ever been(except England's slip catching). Balls that would go for sixes back in day get caught. I really think that top players( kohli, smith, Williamson, babar, pre-2015 root) really would've had much problem scoring if they played in 1990s. Also players playing shots older guys typically wouldn't dream of playing also player a huge roll. Back in the day a Yorker was more often than not a dot ball, nowadays theres like 5 different ways of scoring a boundary of a Yorker these days.
