No-one called Colin has ever bowled the first ball of a test match

Watching CDG opening against Aus made me think of how few Colins you see these days, and it got me stat-ing.

According to wikipedia only 14 people called Colin as a first name have ever played test cricket.

Aus -

Colin Guest - bowled first change

Colin McCool – bowled 2nd or 3rd change

Colin McDonald – only ever bowled 1 over, as the 8th bowler that innings

Colin Miller – played 18 tests, opened the bowling by bowling the second over on 7 of them. (1998 – 2001)

Eng

Colin Blythe – although bowled SLA, he bowled the first over of an innings in three tests in 1907, the innings being the 2nd or 4th , before he died in WW1.

Colin Cowdrey – occasional legbreaks, never before 3rd change

Colin Milburn – never bowled

NZ

Colin DeG – has frequently bowled second over, may yet bowl the first over before retirement

Colin Munro – bowled 3rd change in his one test

Colin Milburn – bowled 2nd change in his one test

ZAF

Colin Bland – bowled every position (as cricinfo would have it) from 1 to 7. Bowled first ball only in 4th innings.

Colin "Tich" Wesley - never bowled in his three tests

WI

Colin Croft – regularly bowled second over, never the first

Colin Stuart, bowled the first over once in a 6 test career, 2001. But it was the 4th innings.

So no-one called Colin has ever bowled the first ball of a test match.
