In my opinion, Collingwood is probably in the top 5 batsmen England have ever produced. Hobbs, Hutton & Sutcliffe are obviously the top 3, but I would say Collingwood is the finest since at least the 1960s.
A three-time Ashes winner and probably the greatest fielder in cricket's history, his escapades with the bat are often overlooked. He played in the 2000s, which were known for extremely difficult pitches and quality attacks. Unlike Pietersen, he just got on with the job, and his average undersells his absolute fucking supremacy. I dare say he was a better batsman in his prime than any of the current fab 4.
