I'm sorry if this topic is brought up many times but this is not a rant . I myself have seen multiple dudes saying kohli 's captaincy is shit and other captains are better . As a person who watches cricket occasionally, I can't real tell the fact that he's a poor captain .
So can some please state any instances when his captaincy was poor . Because literally everyone says he is a bad captain tactically but no one provides evidences or proof . Not saying they are wrong but just asking why kohli is a bad captain .
Ps: .my English is bad so I may have repeated certain things sorry .
SB Nation's youtube channel does "deep rewinds" on interesting and memorable moments in (mostly) American sports. The idea is that they break down a moment, usually a single shot, kick, throw, hit looking at all the players involved and their backstories, what led them to this moment, what happened in the game/series so far, the history of each team, and so on. The full playlist is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyBLgr6uBas&list=PLRo3mRAtA0hxMdZjGsTWISiVsqAXqM17f&index=1
Which memorable moments in Cricket deserve a deep rewind?
The 2019 World Cup final super over springs to mind as a recent one Edgbaston 2005 seems like another. Do you guys have any better ones?

IPL is a good tournament, most prolly the best domestic T20 league out there - but that's where it ends. A domestic tournament. Runs 2/12 months a year or same time as can buy Christmas products in stores.
I understand this sub is dominated by Indian fans, but there's a weird fascination with it that runs all year, even in international season.
Maxwell and Finch didn't perform in IPL and did in Australia opening ODIs. How is this a surprise? IPL is a 2 month gig for a foreign franchise. The latter means playing for your country in national colours. It's not even comparable - of course IPL form means absolute BS.
Or the weird fascination with RCB's fortunes and India's captaincy and handing it to Rohit Sharma because it works for him at MI. Idiots are calling it an insult that he isn't offered tests captaincy in kohli's absence. Tests. On basis of not domestic first class games, not 3 dayers, but a T20 domestic competition.
It goes on and on and on. Cummins is no longer Australia's best because KKR. Tewatia to replace Jadeja in ODIs.
IPL season is done. The next is around the corner, yes, but still a few months away. And while IPL does bring lesser names to the forefront and to attention, that doesn't automatically translate to replacements on the international level. Before 2008, how did you think they selected alternatives?
I couldn’t think how to word that title so here’s some examples:
Like how Jimmy Anderson played with Nick Knight or how Jimmy Anderson played with Mark Butcher or how Jimmy Anderson played with Alex Stewart or Craig White or Anthony McGrath or Ronnie Irani....
Jesus Christ Jimmy’s longevity is ridiculous isn’t it? But that’s not the point, the point is generational crossovers you’re surprised at or you forgot all about...

Watching the last two games where Australia batted well this is glaringly obvious. Whilst as a fan I can't say I didn't enjoy the Aussies belting India for two massive scores it doesn't make for the best cricket when bat continually dominates the ball.
Batters have had many advantages this decade (bigger bats, smaller boundaries etc) and the two new ball rule makes it easier for them. A 25 over ball is still very hard and good for batting and they barely swing at all so there's no real advantage for the bowlers at the start of an innings.
Going back to one ball would mean that the ball would rough up more and get significantly softer as the innings wears on which makes it harder for batters. It also allows for reverse swing to become a factor late in the innings which I believe was a great feature of the game in the 2000's with bowlers like Vaas and Lee. This means that batter have to work harder at the death and gives bowlers a chance to take wickets and pull the score back.
Obviously there was the issue with discolouration of the ball which makes it hard to see but with the technology developed in the last 5 years with the pink ball, surely some of that could help fix this issue.

You thought you had it in the bag. The commentators let out a chuckle as they saw these names next to your big-3 juggernauts. You got 300-odd and had them 7 down for fuck-all. Yet somehow you walked away from the game wondering how the hell you lost. Especially when the same team gets rolled by Zimbabwe a week later.
Your team may get n runs, but they get n+1. Your argument is invalid. The greatest team.

They were trying to raise awareness for https://www.stopadani.com .
(I have nothing to do with any of this; I just think this forum doesn’t need to respect the broadcasters’ and cricket websites’ filtering out of what the protest was about.)

Compton's absent-mindedness was legendary. Colin Cowdrey writes that Compton turned up for the Old Trafford Test of 1955 against South Africa without his kitbag. Undaunted, he sauntered into the museum and, borrowing an antique bat off the display, went on to score 158 and 71. Nevertheless, England lost by three wickets. This absent-mindedness was particularly obvious in his tendency to run out his partners at the crease: Trevor Bailey declared that 'a call for a run from Compton should be treated as no more than a basis for negotiation.' In typical form, at his brother Leslie's benefit match in 1955, he managed to run him out before he had faced a single ball.
Peter Parfitt, the Middlesex and England batsman, was a speaker at a major celebration in London for Compton's 70th birthday. He claims that the chief guest was called to the telephone by a lady who had heard about the dinner: eventually, he agreed to take the call. "Denis," she said, "it's me, your mother. You're not 70, you're only 69."

Hi everyone. Few things to get through in this post so it's a bit of a long one...
State of the sub posts
This is the first of a semi-regular 'state of the subreddit' style post we'll be making to talk about subreddit news and ideas. Many other subs already have this, and now we will too.
New Rule: No toxic fan behaviour
No low-effort hate directed at players, clubs, fans, associated people, or formats of the game. Negative opinions are fine, but be respectful when expressing it
This is a new rule to respond to a number of requests we've seen in recent times to be a bit firmer on toxic fan comments. Similar rules have recently been introduced in a few other sports subs. Currently rule 1 bans abuse of other redditors, but people have had free reign to spew low-effort hate about players/umpires/administrators and the like. Without intending to single anyone out, here are some examples of this:
Mumbai has so many douchebags in their team (pandyas amount to 5 douchebags) and so many fat doughy rich motabhais sitting on the sidelines.
Krunal's face is the most punchable face ever
Krunal you piece of shit
KRUNAL IS A ASSHOLE. NO ONE WILL DISAGREE TBH
Krunal is grade a cunt
Shit bowler. Absolute nobody
Edit to clarify: above are actual comments copied out of a recent IPL match thread (Krunal must've done something wrong at the time)
These sort of shit-tier abusive/hate comments add nothing to the sub and are no longer going to be allowed here. Negative opinions, banter, jokes, venting anger or frustration and the like are absolutely still allowed. We're not banning negative thoughts, we just want to cut out some of the low-effort toxic dribble that is already super common in other forums like facebook or instagram comments.
Reddit redesign
The infamous reddit redesign seems to be picking up steam. Last month around 23% of unique visitors to this sub used new reddit, 40% used mobile web, 30% used reddit apps, and only 8% used old reddit. With mobile web and a lot of apps now based on new reddit by default there seems to a majority of people using the redesign these days.
As a result, we're going to start focusing more on new reddit features and less on updating the old reddit subreddit CSS styles. Some ideas we're thinking about (feel free to comment):
Custom awards for posts/comments. Perhaps umpiring signals, players, milestones like 50/100, 5/10 wickets etc
Post flair. We don't have this now but can be useful for filtering post types e.g. match threads, discussion, stats, news, highlights, images, humour etc. Either optional or mandatory, but probably works better if mandatory
Style tweaks. Most of these are subtle but we'll likely start introducing some more e.g. post guidelines help messages, welcome messages to new subscribers, appearance changes etc
Reddit predictions
This feature was trialled by the admins in this sub during the IPL, and future plans for it are unknown, including regarding continuing it over the southern hemisphere summer. We'll let you know more about this soon
So I know the Lanka Premier League has flown under the radar but I thought I'd just draw this sub's attention to the tournament and in particular the Jaffna Stallions Team.
While all games will be played in Hambantota in the South, it's still a pretty big deal to have a team representing Jaffna. For those who arent aware, the Northern Province, and Jaffna in particular, was heaviest hit by the Civil War and was essentially cut off from the rest of the Island for a long time.
Even more importantly, there are 4 Tamil players from the North in the squad.
Vijayakanth Viyaskanth - Legspinner - Has represented SL U-19
Kanagarathinam Kabilraj - Right Arm Fast Bowler - (nicknamed the Killinochchi Express apparently)
Theivendiram Dinoshan - Right arm Fast Bowler/Right Hand Bat
Sebastianpillai Vijeyaraj - Right arm Fast Bowler
While im not saying that everyones problems (racial, discirmination etc.) go away , I am a strong believer in sports being a great method of bringing together communities. Im hoping that only these players do well in this tournament and will one day represent Sri Lanka, I hope that it would also help bring all communities from the North and the South together. Especially given how they have (at times) viewed each other with suspicion.
Full Squad can be found here: https://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/content/squad/1239486.html
Their first game is tonight vs the Galle Gladiators.
It’s AUS V IND series eve! 24hrs till the most awaited series begins in a long time. Home team Australia will take on the visitors India at the SCG tomorrow! Discuss everything related to the the match tomorrow.
