IPL is a good tournament, most prolly the best domestic T20 league out there - but that's where it ends. A domestic tournament. Runs 2/12 months a year or same time as can buy Christmas products in stores.
I understand this sub is dominated by Indian fans, but there's a weird fascination with it that runs all year, even in international season.
Maxwell and Finch didn't perform in IPL and did in Australia opening ODIs. How is this a surprise? IPL is a 2 month gig for a foreign franchise. The latter means playing for your country in national colours. It's not even comparable - of course IPL form means absolute BS.
Or the weird fascination with RCB's fortunes and India's captaincy and handing it to Rohit Sharma because it works for him at MI. Idiots are calling it an insult that he isn't offered tests captaincy in kohli's absence. Tests. On basis of not domestic first class games, not 3 dayers, but a T20 domestic competition.
It goes on and on and on. Cummins is no longer Australia's best because KKR. Tewatia to replace Jadeja in ODIs.
IPL season is done. The next is around the corner, yes, but still a few months away. And while IPL does bring lesser names to the forefront and to attention, that doesn't automatically translate to replacements on the international level. Before 2008, how did you think they selected alternatives?
