Why do folks on here and in the media generally compare the entire careers of Kallis and Sobers to just the peaks of Imran Khan, Botham etc to claim all of these folks were in the same league?

I keep seeing folks on here going on and on about Imran Khan’s last 10 years and Botham first half and compare their numbers to that of Kallis/Sobers entire careers.

I don’t get the point of comparing one player’s peak to the average of another player’s career.

Also, speaking of peaks what were Kallis’s and Sobers’s peaks like? Genuinely curious.
